For Joyful Life

Beware of the Negative Feedback Loop

All of us know that the positive feelings and the positive interactions with fellow human beings and nature, will help us to lead to a joyful life.

To ensure that, all of us need to be aware of the feedback loop influences on us.

What is a feedback loop?

When a part of the output of a process is fed back to become a part of the input to that process, it becomes a feedback loop.

Everyone of us lead a life with our own social circle involving our family, friends, work place, affiliated forums, ideology, books, etc – a process with complex inputs and complex outputs.

The food we take, ideas, suggestions, etc we permit to our mind, our physical and mental efforts etc are all the inputs to the life process we are associated with.

The generation of revenue, the results of our all kinds of our physical and mental efforts as well as the results in our social circle, are all the complex outputs.

Note that we also contribute to the inputs as well as the outputs in our social circle (both online & off line).

Till our death, we have to undergo the process of the feedback loop, in which the part of the above output, would be fed back as the input.

If our life is dominated by the negative feelings, negative emotions, destructive violent actions, etc, we are already caught in the negative feedback loop, ensuring stressful negative life bordering to become a negative human robot.

Instead of identifying and encouraging lawful mechanism to punish the culprits, if we develop hatred to the caste, race, and country for that action of the culprit, we are already in a negative feedback loop. Good and bad people are in every caste, race, country, etc,; we must always remember, when we start drowning ourselves in negative emotions.

While encountering a view point opposed to ours, if we are tempted to divert the attention to personal attack, instead of dealing with the points and evidences in an open minded, objective manner, it is an indication that we are caught in a negative feedback loop.

Another inevitable contamination of the negative feedback loop would be the infection of comparison.(Don't compare yourself with others (Your competition is with yourself)
http://veepandi.blogspot.in/2013/12/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none_16.html )

Once we suspect that we may be in a negative feedback loop, we need to have a temporary withdrawal of our emotion related actions, and move to a calm place in a lonely, preferably, in a serene natural surroundings,  to reflect on our feedback loop.

Are the human beings in our circle the shelters of positive feelings and positive values? Are the books we read, the films we see, the forums we are associated with, nurture the positive feelings and positive values? (A Self Check-Up;  Are We The Shelter of The Positive Feelings?; http://veepandi.blogspot.in/2013/01/normal-0-false-false-false_22.html )

If you really want a joyful life, the above exercise will give the awareness and empower you to redefine your social circle and inputs.

Once you start doing it, you will experience that your feedback loop is undergoing transformation from the negative to the positive.

Also we need to be aware;  in real life even those leading a joyful life, need to experience their ‘quota’ of negative feelings and emotions. But the relative magnitude of the positive dimension to the negative dimension in our feedback loop, will point out the nature of the loop we were in.

When the process of the negative feedback loop dominates, contaminating a significant section of the people in a country, that will facilitate the emergence of unworthy leaders.

With vigilant awareness, we can monitor our feedback loop towards a joyful life, as well as to contribute to decontaminate the world to the extent possible to us.

‘Good and bad to us, could not come from others, unless we permit them ‘, according to the ancient Tamil text, puRanhAnURu.

தீதும் நன்றும் பிறர் தர வாரா’ – புறநானூறு.

Note : The above post was the result of my reflection on the following comments from my UK based friend V.Tholkappian.

Tamils are suffering the negative feedback loop. It will be a hard struggle until it switches to positive feedback loop. ”

Key to Joyful Living

Every Day is in fact a Bonus Life for us

In spite of all possible security arrangements, every day is in fact a bonus life for us in the light of the following unforeseen dangers around us.

Anyone living with security guards is not safe as late Indian PM Indira Gandhi’s assassination had demonstrated.

Even a minor circuit fault or wrong input may distort a drone to kill unintended persons.

We had seen how even the most developed countries could not rescue some of their citizens from the Nature’s fury.

The meteorite that exploded in central Russia few weeks before and innumerable objects circling around our earth remind us the uncertainty of our lives.

The above innumerable list including the kinds of weapons we are accumulating and the increasing tribe of selfish leaders in the countries,  suggest that every day is in fact a bonus life for us.

Every morning, when I wake up, I am happy to be alive and vow to spend that day in viable joyful way.

Can I afford to waste that day worrying about death?

I like to smell and enjoy life and hence I try to avoid the ‘dead’ robot like human beings always working to use all relationships and interactions only to earn money and influence - drowning in the infection of comparison, briefed in a post below.

I start the day with morning walk communicating ‘Good Morning’ to birds and trees.

I enjoy the music (from the birds, thunder, etc) and dance (the trees, river flow, etc) in nature.

I involve in activities that gives meaning to my life and joy to me.

In case death comes to me, I shall welcome it with joy as the day was spent in joy and most of the days in my life were spent in joy as I had divorced myself from the negative sources of memory, persons and places.

A bonus life is only for enjoyment and nothing else.

Note: How comparison becomes the thief of our joy?; http://veepandi.blogspot.sg/2013/12/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none_18.html

How to nurture the Power for Joyful Life?

Minus human beings, there will be no social power (governments, etc) in the world.

All kinds of power in the world owe their origin to the human beings.

The power of the individual human being is partly inherited by birth (the family, the country, etc) and partly developed. Depending on the nature of the power nurtured, one can lead a joyful life or stressful (& harmful) life.

The uneven magnitude of power in the world human beings will reflect the complex uneven conditions under which the particular individual can develop his/her power within the available means.

The identity components of the individual are the options within the available means as the nuts and bolts in the mechanism of the development of the individual power.

Identity components related to family, caste, language, heritage and country can help the individual to develop power for a joyful life or enslave the person to become an emotional robot, consciously or unconsciously serving harmful vested interests in the world.

Nature is a main source to develop one’s power for a joyful life. By living close to nature and interacting with birds, trees, etc of nature (as revealed in the posts below) one can escape from enslaving robotic influences and contribute to save the world from the following danger.

The world, under modern technology, is weakening the barriers in terms of country, language, caste, religion, etc. That process is being accompanied by both heterogeneous globalization (preserving all diversity in positive manner) and homogeneous globalization (destroying all diversity & nature to serve high energy thirsty robotic life needs).

The homogeneous globalization , threatening all diversities , will induce insecurity dominant mechanism to safeguard the identities in terms of caste, religion, country, etc - the extreme versions exhibiting anti-modern- technology curbing the ‘modern infection’ of the individual human rights in favor of the group identity rights.

The conflict of the homogeneous globalization and heterogeneous globalization is the source for all kinds of social disharmony including terrorism.

Unless we strengthen the heterogeneous globalization and simultaneously weaken the homogeneous globalization, the above conflict can not be weakened.

The forces supporting the homogeneous globalization mainly use the hard power of weapons, etc while those supporting the heterogeneous globalization could use the soft power. If more and more humans join, the soft power will win over the hard power in the long run. That could be the only way to prevent the world and the human beings sacrificed to serve the high energy - induced needs thirsty - robotic life.

Hence our leading a joyful life nurturing our power with the support from nature will strengthen the soft power and simultaneously contribute to the world harmony.

For our joyful life

Beware of the Cancerous  Identity Mechanism

Every one of us has diverse identity components related to our native place, family, culture, heritage, skills and interests. Our joyful life depends on our awareness and nurturing the diversity in our identity. It is like preserving the biodiversity for the well being of our earth.

The danger to our joyful life originates in an infection weakening the diversity and the cancerous growth of one or few emotion based identity components weakening the other components.

To understand one such mechanism of infection, consider the following example.

Imagine that the number  10  expects the number 4 to fall at its feet as it is lower in value.

No wonder the same number 10 falls at the feet of the number 80 as it is higher in value.

The same number 10, without shame disrespect the 80 when it is permitted to fall at the feet of  400.

The purpose of falling at the feet is to increase one's value thereby increasing the scope of more less numbers falling at the feet.

In fact those numbers are the human beings and the value represents their wealth and influence levels- weakening all other identity components in favor of wealth and influence.

Any country/society that encourages the above mechanism will have to decay becoming a desert for creativity and good values. The resulting human beings will be like robots programmed to pursuit the wealth and influence sacrificing all good values at their disposal.
' Can you be angry with Mathematics?'(post below) exposed the above mechanism. Also emotion will enslave reason - encouraging its misuse thorough terrorist avenues.

The unfortunate consequence will be the weakening of the diversity of many identity components of the individual falling prey to emotion based groups, causing violence and disharmony - explained well in -
'Identity and Violence: The Illusion of Destiny' by Amartya Sen

The above unfortunate individual will consciously or unconsciously shelter increasing negative feelings and decreasing positive feelings.

No wonder even in the midst of trees , birds, hills, rivers, etc , he/she , instead of enjoying the music and dance in nature, will be mentally more occupied with the thoughts induced by the cancerous dominant emotional identity component.

Also such persons become the sources of infection to ruin a positive environment/country/society.

Beware of such negative influences, if we need to preserve our sheltering of the good feelings for the joyful life.
For our joyful life, we need to distant ourselves ( as explained in a post below) from the negative sources .

 A Self Check-Up

Are We The Shelter of The Positive Feelings?

First a brief intro on how we grow while sheltering positive feelings and decay while sheltering negative feelings, and how we contribute both to the positive and negative world events.

Many researches had concluded that the negative feelings are one of the causes of diseases mostly affecting the performance of vital organs in our body irrespective of whoever is responsible for them. Also recovering from sickness becomes fast when we harbour the positive feelings.

A self check up if we are the shelter of positive or negative feelings will help us to retune our mind to live with joy.

The self check up will yield good results if done in a lonely place preferably in natural surroundings.

The Self Check Up

  1. Today from morning till now how many positive feelings and negative feelings I had experienced?

  1. Replace today by the current week and repeat the self check up.

  1. Replace week by the month and repeat the self check up.

  1. In my life, how many persons in my social circle are the sources of positive feelings and how many are the sources of the negative feelings?

  1. To how many persons I am responsible for their positive feelings and negative feelings?

The above self check up, like a self X-ray check up, will reveal if you are the shelter of positive or negative feelings.

Also it will provide the guidance to distant yourself from the sources of your negative feelings as well as from the persons to whom you are the source of their negative feelings.

To judge who is right and who is wrong to indulge in blame game is a powerful intoxicating path to shelter the negative feelings.

Let us do the self check up periodically so that we always remain the shelter of mainly positive feelings contributing to self growth and world peace as noted below.

As briefed in ' Lesson from Bamiyan Buddha' (http://veepandi.blogspot.in/2013/01/v-behaviorurldefaultvmlo.html ), all positive and negative world macro level actions can not be separated from the micro level actions of the human beings. It is like the link between micro level behaviour of the molecules and macro level behaviour of the gas comprising the molecules.

The self check up will enhance the skill of the dynamic practice of attachments to the growth and detachments to the decay (briefed in a post below) .

To Enjoy The Music & Dance in Nature

 Free the mind

During a chill morning walk on a road with coconut trees in a field on the left of the road, I was thinking about the problem in my music software project, and soft cool winds embraced my face. I felt it was a slap on my face reminding me to look at the coconut trees.

I felt guilty, regained my sense of balance and started enjoying the view.

The leaves and the branches were dancing in a rhythmic fashion with music from distant birds adding value. The coconut trees in linear symmetry , matching the dynamic change in the angle of my view during the walking, offered a joyful nature slide show.

We always get what we deserve in our lives.

Even in the midst of natural surroundings of trees, river, hills, etc, if we continue to think of our problems and unfulfilled wishes, we will be denying ourselves the music and dance in nature.

I felt guilty as narrated above, because I sensed it as symptom of my drowning in a life of induced needs and interests (the money value being lost due to the delay in completing my music software product).

I need to earn to live. But I can not live just for earning. I shall not miss the joy in nature just because I need to earn.

So I decided to free my mind in the midst of nature and later switch on to my work and problems when I am in the midst of the concrete structures and similar robot like humans in rat race (briefed in a post below)

I shall continue to feel guilty whenever I loose the above balance.

Beware of the Human Rats Race

- Also The Use value of Human Rats Network

No doubt one needs to earn money to survive in this world.

Developing more than one employable skill while being alert to emerging scope of money earning will help meaningful survival.

Depending on the changing environment, one's skill may attract more income than expected tempting to more money earning.

Interestingly one has to be beware of the critical point , if one has to safeguard himself/herself from being dragged into the human rate race of money earning - becoming end instead of means to happy life.

Below the critical point one will have time to help others and enjoy nature, retaining his/her human dimension.

Above the critical point, the person’s total focus becomes earning money. All his/her time and all the social contacts need to be connected to money earning.

In no time the person will find himself/herself in human rat race for money earning, falling into the infection of comparison (briefed in a post below).

Within a short time his/her social circle will be dominated by human rats within a small range above and below his/her ‘social status’ – all the rats including him/her feeling down by comparing with the more successful human rats far above their social status.

To conserve their energy and focus to progress into the social circle of the higher human rats, they need to avoid ‘wasting’ their time, money and energy on non-money earning activities like helping others without a hidden agenda, enjoying nature, etc.

All relationships including husband- wife, parents-children, friends etc will become strong or weak depending on its use value to money earning.

In the course of time, when they die, they just die as human rat with the funeral matching their ‘social status’ of the human rat and with the absence of genuine human grief.

The critical point of the human rat race depends on our life style. A simple life fulfilling our natural needs and interests will have a lower critical point. The magnitude of the critical point will increase in proportional to the magnitude of the infection of comparison we suffer from.

As the magnitude of the critical point increases, our freedom to get out of the human rat race will decrease.

Use value of Human Rats Network

In fact , to those who opt out of the rat race, the human rat race become an object of enjoyment  like the horse race  - of course without need for betting on the winning human rat.

It can be a source of enjoyment like a cinema in which we are just the observers with the freedom to walk out, if we do not like the show.

We shall not forget about the powerful dimension of the several social net work of human rats.

Like a drowning person trying to survive by grabbing any viable strong hold - not bothering about its dirt ,we can 'grab' the viable contact in the above network when our survival becomes a problem.

After escaping drowning, the person will not continue to spend the rest of his life continuing his contact with that dirty strong hold.

Similarly we can use the above human rats network for short periods for preventing our drowning or for watching a 'cinema' , never permitting ourselves to become one more human rat.

Blessed are those who could lead a simple life
without the need to please or fear any human rat.
